In its social assistance program, AFEE offered assistance
to more than one hundred persons confronted to specific
social problems. Among these persons, two cases deserve
to be kept.
-
Fatou Ndong, a housewife whose husband abandoned her
and left her alone with her children without resources,
was victim of a domestic accident while cooking with
wood fire. As a result, this lady suffered from second
degree burns, but she stayed home instead of going
to a hospital because she could not afford to pay
for medical expenses. AFEE was contacted for assistance,
and the organization took actions to bring the victim
to the principal hospital of Dakar. The lady remained
in Dakar for two years. After her treatment, she returned
to Fatick where she integrated an affiliated women
group of AFEE and was granted a credit that allowed
for her to open a small business and make a decent
life for her children and for herself.

AFEE took care of 2 orphans who were living with their
maternal grandmother after their father abandoned
them. One of the children, Pape Gora Séne, was diagnosed
with cancer. AFEE took care of all the expenses with
the support of His Excellence Versan Sentürker, then
Ambassador of Turkey in Senegal. Unfortunately, despite
the efforts deployed by His Excellence, the doctors
and AFEE, the child was not able to live.
