The Summit on Education held in Dakar April 2000 had given rise to real hopes as for the improvement of the low education rate in Senegal with the financial support of the developed nations. In fact, the costs of the education are so high that many people can`t afford to send their children to school. AFEE is working with its local and international partners to improve the quality and accessibility of basic education.
AFEE has "xamal xale yi" [Educate our Children] programs intended for the children. These programs contribute to the education, the maintenance of the children in school, especially young girls, and the professional training of the young people.
AFEE has a "Xam sa Reew" [patriotism] program that helps children know and love their country. Many of the activities involve the organization visit tours of historical monuments, museums and sites of interest.
In all regions where AFEE is represented, women who are members of the organization are taught how to read and write in French as well as in their native dialect [Wolof].
